HATE!

Finally our title sequence is finished. Many many hours of editing and filming have been put into this project. I am pleased with the final product of our work. Like i said before i wasnt happy with what we had but i am deffinately happy now. Chelsea has been brillaint with this project. Much of the editing has been down to her. Thanks Chels =]. So now its done. There has been countless downfalls for us in this but we have pulled threw it and didnt let them stop us.

More Editing

So much editing has gone into this film. Yesterday we did 3 hours editing. Then chelsea the legend stayed after school for another 2 hours. When we thought we had our final scences together we watched it through and began to see that we didnt like all the footage we had. It needed to go. So we deleted and rearranged much of the footage. It now looks good and flows well. At first when we began to edit and when it was coming together i didnt feel it worked well and didnt think it was going to work. I wasnt happy with what we had. However as the projects progressing along my mind has been changed and i am now pleased with the way it has turned out. =]
Right a day before the title sequence was due in we realised we didnt have a name for it. So we got our thinking caps on and thought about it. Although we had done most of the editing it didnt occur to us that we needed a name. Hate is what we have decided to name our film. Its short and sweet. It doesnt tell you much about the film in somewways is good but others may disagree. We didnt want anything that gave away the film to much. Considering our film is about hate crime this works really well. It only tells the aundience whatt they need to no.

HATE!

Changes!

The genre we decided to work with was crime dram. How ever as we was making and editing out title sequence we saw that it didny work as a crime drama. So we have chnged the genre to horror. As we watched the our film it didnt resemble any crime elements. Although we researched into crime drama's they stil helped us through the process and gave us many ideas. There are not many crime drama films about this is why we wanted to do this as it would be something different. However our film didnt fit in with this genre. If we had proceeded to use crime dram we may of lost marks. So we were happy to change our genre.

Final Cut Pro!

We was told to use to improve our film to use Final Cut Por. So me and Chelsea transferd our work to Final Cut Pro. It was our first time at using this software so it was like a test run. When we began to use it it wasnt so hard. However this soon changed when we had to re-order our work. What we didnt relise was if we overlapped our work it would take seconds from it. So when we had unjumbled our work it was much shorter than we had expected, then the seconds it was taking off were being added to another clip so ti didnt make sense. Me and Chelsea were stressing out so much and was going to give up. So afetr the disaster we decided that it was mucheasier to use iMovie. We are familiar with this programme. So finished our editing on this.

Seven Title Sequence

Seven

Previously in the talk about our title sequnece there had been discussions about the title sequnce from the film Seven. As our film and the film Seven are both crime based. Therefore we wanted them to be simimlar. However through the making of this it didnt resemble any of the Seven ideas. So then when it came down to the final stages of editing we started to add more effects. In between each scence we wanted credits and there to be a flash. As simple as this may seem it was not as easy. When we added these effects it didnt look right so we decided not to use them.
I dont want to sound stupid but I found it harder to do continuity than it would. You have to remember so much, like does it fit in and doeds it make sence. I know that you have to do that when making a film anyway but just the word continuity makes it sound more demanding in a way. We also had to remember the 180 degree rule when filming a conversation between two people. It took us an hour and half to make it as it was so hard to get good angles and we kept breaking the 180 degree rule so it didint look right because we had it from two different angles and it distorted the frame.

Luke

Luke is one of 2 boys in our group. Not for much longer though. Hes leaving. This was so out of the blue and unexpected. Hes decided 6th for isnt for him so he has got himself a job and he's on his way. He doesnt lwave until Monday 2nd Feb. So he is in fto help us film on Friday. He has said if we need him again he will help us =]. He'll definately be missed. Although i wont miss We cant let this make us fall behind anymore so were not going to let it. Were going to keep our heads down and get on with it. So now theres just 3 off us left =[.

Editing

We uploaded our film footage on to the Macs today and realised we didnt need half our our footage. We filmed our man Harry getting dressed and putting his shirt on but however we realised he didnt want to get blood on his shirt so we had to change our storyboard to Harry getting undressed. This was the cause of us loosing half of our footage. Although we chnaged it half way through we still got somereally good camera angles and have managed to edit them all in together. It looks really good now. We had a bit of a dilema with the blood. Obviously we didnt want to draw blood from harry we needed to use fake blood. This was a problem as we couldnt find any fake blood at the time of filming so we had to water down red point and use this instead. We all agreed that the red paint substitue for the blood didnt work very wel as it looked to orangy. So we have decided to re-film on Friday and goign to use fake blood this time.

Although we are filming these shots again we are still going to upload the original peice edited. So we can show the process of our mistakes and errors.

Filming!

Sure enough another bump in the road for us. We had planned to film on Monday 19th of Jan. However this did not go to plan. As we didnt have the main thing we needed to film a DV tape. So this set us back a stage. It didnt delay us much though as we managed to get ourselves a tape and we was on the way. On Friday 23rd we managed to film. We had our cast all set up and we was underway. We started to film at 11o'clock and finished around 1o'clock. As we began to film we relised that the victim was going to die whilst in the shower, however the showers in school dont work. So again we had to change our film. So we had the victim getting changed and the killer come up from behind and kill him. During the filming there were many knew ideas being suggested from us all. So we shot our orignal piece and added more shots through out. We shot many of the scens in differens camera asngles so we can have many editing scenes. So fingers crossed it works =]!

The Discussions

When we thought we had decided we had our final idea Nina said it was to simple as ther are not many locations and also there were not many shots. So again we started to think of ways we could make it not so boring. So we sat down and thougth again about our ideas. We had to pad it out as such. Our film is about homosexual hate crime, however from the way we had decided to film our piece it isnt clear what it is about. So as it is about gay hate crime, at the begining of the piece there are some insinuations of hate crime. We have added more locations and more characters. We ran through our ideas with Nina and she thinks that these ideas are alot better and also this would also bump our grades up if we was to do this.

The Projects Underway!

The whole project is starting to happen now thank god. Weve now got our date for filming Monday 19th =]. We went to the PE department to make sure it would be ok to use the showers for a few hours. There was a bit of trouble finding someone to go topless in the shower for us. But we managed to persuade someone. So the next step would be storyboards. We have already started them, howevre they are not finished. So today we are continuing to do so.

Our ideas we storyboarded are similar to CSI opening sequnce. I kike the idea of having many different cuts in the sequence of various different things happening. For example as it is a crime drama you would expect there to be a crima of some sort involved in the tilte sequence murder or assult, perhaps and fingerprints being taken and many other shots involving crime.
